PUBLIC HOUSING
Public Housing Assistance in Flint Michigan
The Flint Housing Commission owns 1115 conventional public housing units, which include 68 scattered sites throughout the City of Flint.
What is Public Housing?
Public Housing is a subsidized housing program funded through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) which allows seniors, disabled persons and families to live independently in affordable housing. The Flint Housing Commission uses income limits developed by HUD, which lower income limits are at 80% and very low income limits are at 50% of the median income for the area. Rent is based on 30% of all income received, which some income may be excluded. Our Public Housing Program offers a variety of Resident Services and we aim to assist and encourage families and residents to become self-sufficient.
